Haiden Harper Achieves Milestone of 2,000 Career Points

Haiden Harper, a standout basketball player at Lee-Scott Academy, reached a significant career milestone by surpassing 2,000 career points on January 20, 2024. The achievement came during a game against Beulah, showcasing Harper’s talent and dedication to the sport. Having signed with Troy University in November, he is set to join the Trojan roster for the 2026-2027 basketball season.

Harper’s performance this season has been impressive. He currently leads his team with an average of 15.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. His scoring prowess has made him a key player for Lee-Scott Academy, where he has consistently demonstrated his skill on the court.

In reflecting on his accomplishment, Harper expressed gratitude for the support he has received throughout his journey. “First of all, I am grateful to God for blessing me with the ability to play and love this sport and hit this great milestone of 2,000 career points,” he stated. He also acknowledged his family’s unwavering support and thanked his coaches for being influential role models.

In his previous season, Harper earned Class 3A All-State honors and was recognized as the Opelika-Auburn News Boys Basketball Small School Player of the Year. These accolades highlight his consistent performance and impact in the sport, establishing him as a player to watch in the coming years.

Coach’s Praise and Future Prospects

Scott Cross, the head coach at Troy, praised Harper’s abilities, stating, “Haiden is a dynamic, super skilled basketball player that can score with the very best of them.” He further emphasized that achieving 2,000 points is an extraordinary accomplishment, though not surprising given Harper’s talent. Cross highlighted that Harper’s character off the court is what truly sets him apart, remarking, “What makes this milestone even more special is that Haiden is an even better person than basketball player.”

As Harper aims to conclude his high school career with a state championship, both he and his team are focused on the upcoming challenges. The support from his coaches, family, and community remains a driving force as he prepares for his transition to collegiate basketball at Troy.

The excitement surrounding Harper’s future reflects his potential not only to contribute to the Trojan team but also to inspire young athletes in the community. His journey serves as a testament to hard work and determination, qualities that will undoubtedly serve him well in the next chapter of his basketball career.
