In a celebration of athletic excellence, Grace Mayo from Skowhegan and Abbie Derosier from Brewer have been named finalists for the prestigious Miss Maine Field Hockey award. This accolade recognizes the top senior player in the state and will culminate in an announcement on December 7, 2023, during the Maine Field Hockey Association’s banquet at the Augusta Civic Center.
Profiles of the Finalists
Grace Mayo, a midfielder for Skowhegan, has had an impressive season, contributing significantly to her team’s success with 11 goals and 14 assists. As a captain and a four-year starter, she has demonstrated leadership both on and off the field. Mayo has committed to attending Bates College, where she plans to play field hockey and compete in track and field.
Abbie Derosier, a standout goalie for Brewer, has also made her mark this season, achieving five shutouts as part of her team’s performance. Brewer concluded the regular season with a record of 7-6-2, securing the sixth seed in the Class A North playoffs. A three-year starter and team captain, Derosier has committed to play at Assumption University in Division II next year.
