The Columbia River girls soccer team delivered a commanding performance on Thursday, defeating Mountain View with a score of 7-0. Leading the charge was Makayla Hundt, who scored three goals and contributed an assist, showcasing her significant impact on the match.
Hundt’s remarkable performance was complemented by Olivia Alvord, who assisted on two of her goals. Other contributors included Madi Nides, who scored one goal and provided an assist, and Harper Lapinskas, who netted a goal from a corner kick. This victory marks an impressive start for the Rapids as they aim for a successful season.
Other Notable Matches Across the League
In another standout match, Miriam Madrigal shone for Evergreen, scoring three goals and providing one assist in a 7-1 victory against Hudson’s Bay. Gianna-Mei Alejo Pagaduan also made her mark, adding one goal and four assists to the scoreboard.
In volleyball, Ella Thompson led the Camas Papermakers to a decisive 3-0 win over West Linn (Oregon) with an impressive tally of 11 kills, six digs, and three aces. Meanwhile, Aiyanna Curtis of Heritage contributed significantly with 12 blocks, eight kills, five digs, and two aces, helping her team to a 3-1 victory against Hockinson.
The Union volleyball team also had a successful outing, with Grace Whalen recording 15 assists and six kills during their 3-0 triumph over Woodland. Maddie Cooley of Washougal was instrumental as well, securing 15 assists, three aces, and 15 service points in a 3-0 win over Stevenson.
In slowpitch softball, Dylan Yates delivered a stellar performance for Skyview, going 2-for-2 with a double, home run, and five RBI in a commanding 15-1 victory over Mark Morris.
On the golf course, Jack Flynn led the Columbia River boys team with an even-par score of 36 at Mint Valley, helping secure a win over Mark Morris with a team score of 153-171.
