Cross Country and Football Highlights

The day commenced early with the college men’s and women’s cross country races at Kapiolani Park. Teams from Hawaii Hilo, Chaminade, and Hawaii Pacific gathered at 7:15 a.m. to compete for supremacy in a challenging course.

In football, excitement built throughout the day. The Mountain West Conference featured a highly anticipated game between Fresno State and Hawaii at the Clarence T.C. Ching Complex at 6 p.m.. Meanwhile, local high school matchups included Kamehameha at Punahou at 3 p.m., and Campbell facing Kahuku at 6:30 p.m.. Other notable games included Leilehua at Radford in the OIA Division I at 7:30 p.m. and several contests in the BIIF league.

Soccer, Water Polo, and Volleyball Action

In women’s college soccer, Hawaii Hilo faced off against Chaminade at noon on the Saint Louis School field, adding to the day’s competitive atmosphere.

Water polo also saw action with the ILH boys’ teams competing. The ‘Iolani team faced Punahou in a Varsity I matchup at 4 p.m., while an earlier game saw the same teams compete in the Varsity I-AA division at 3 p.m.

Volleyball brought its own excitement as the PacWest Conference showcased multiple matches. Notable games included Jessup against Chaminade at 3 p.m. and Fresno Pacific taking on Hawaii Pacific at 6 p.m. in the lively St. Francis’ Shark Tank.

Local high school teams also took to the court, with various matches scheduled across divisions. The ILH featured games such as Hanalani at Damien and Maryknoll at Sacred Hearts in their respective Varsity II contests.

The day’s events not only highlighted the athletic talent within the region but also fostered community spirit as fans rallied to support their teams.

Overall, September 20, 2025, marked a vibrant day in college and high school sports, with numerous matches offering thrilling moments and showcasing the dedication of athletes across various disciplines.
