The latest rankings for Alabama’s high school football prospects, known as the Best in Bama list, showcase the state’s top talent for the 2025 season. Leading the list is Jackson High School’s running back, EJ Crowell, who has captivated scouts and fans alike. After an early-season suspension due to an internal investigation regarding possible impermissible benefits, Crowell briefly dropped to No. 2. However, his subsequent performances propelled him back to the top spot, where he remains as the final rankings were released.
Crowell, who has already enrolled at Alabama, is anticipated to make a significant impact as a freshman on the Crimson Tide’s football team. He is one of the numerous players from this year’s list who are expected to transition successfully to college football. All 26 seniors on the Best in Bama list are signed with Power 4 programs, highlighting the competitiveness of Alabama high school football.
The Alabama Crimson Tide leads the way with five recruits, while North Carolina has secured three. Florida and Mississippi State each signed two top recruits. The remaining seniors have committed to prestigious programs, including Oregon, LSU, South Carolina, Clemson, Missouri, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Miami, Wake Forest, Purdue, and Ohio State.
Among the notable risers in the rankings is Clay-Chalkville’s wide receiver, Corey Barber, who made a remarkable leap from No. 25 to No. 6. His impressive performances led the Cougars to the Class 6A state championship and earned him a commitment to LSU.
Additionally, two underclassmen made significant strides in the rankings after leading their teams to state championships. Nehemiah McCary, a linebacker from Maplesville, concluded his sophomore season at No. 24 and is expected to climb further in the rankings as his high school career progresses.
Of the original 63 players included in the rankings at some point during the season, 42 maintained their positions from the preseason through the final update. The Best in Bama rankings serve as an essential resource for college recruiters and football enthusiasts alike.
