The Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of Tulsa is advancing practical learning in the real estate sector through a new course and community partnerships. The recently launched course, Real Estate Market Analysis, provides students with essential tools employed by industry professionals. Starting in spring 2025, students will apply their knowledge by performing market and investment analyses for local entities, such as the Tulsa Market District, Fair Oaks, and CloudHaus.
Experiential learning is a cornerstone of the center’s mission. Throughout the year, students have taken part in tours of various projects. These included notable developments such as Price Family Properties’ office-to-multifamily conversions in downtown Tulsa and Flintco’s construction of the new Gilcrease Museum. Additionally, students observed the development of a medical surgical center by Ashton Gray in South Tulsa.
In February 2025, a group of 20 students visited Oklahoma City to attend the ULI Impact Awards. This event provided opportunities to network with alumni and industry employers while engaging with the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. In May, eight students represented the University of Tulsa at the ICSC National Conference in Las Vegas, the largest commercial real estate event in the United States. This experience allowed them to gain insights into emerging retail trends and connect with leading professionals in the field.
The center furthered its mission through a summer project supported by the Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge. This initiative was spearheaded by business faculty members and real estate experts Meagan McCollum, the center’s director, and Cayman Seagraves. Their collaborative efforts focused on developing early detection methods for housing blight in Tulsa, aiming to inform more responsive and equitable local housing policy.
As the real estate industry continues to evolve, the Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of Tulsa is committed to placing its students at the forefront of this transformation. By integrating applied academics with innovative research and strong community connections, the center is preparing the next generation of real estate professionals to thrive in a dynamic market.
