President Donald Trump publicly defended Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday, responding to backlash from segments of his supporter base regarding the recent release of a memo related to the investigation of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Expressing his solidarity on the platform Truth Social, Trump praised Bondi’s performance in her role, stating she is doing a “FANTASTIC JOB.”
In his post, Trump addressed the criticism directed at Bondi, stating, “What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’ They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” He added that he does not approve of the attacks, emphasizing, “We’re on one Team, MAGA.” The president’s remarks come in the wake of a contentious atmosphere following the memo’s release, which concluded there was no evidence to support the existence of a “client list” linked to Epstein or claims of his murder.
The memo’s publication has sparked significant controversy within Trump’s circle, with reports indicating that Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino is contemplating resignation due to tensions between the FBI and the Department of Justice. CNN reported on Friday that the fallout from the memo has created a rift among Trump allies, including right-wing activist Laura Loomer, who has called for Bondi’s removal from her position.
When questioned by reporters about the Epstein investigation during a White House briefing, Trump expressed disbelief at the focus on the subject, stating, “I can’t believe you’re asking a question on Epstein at a time like this.” His Saturday post reiterated his frustration, saying, “For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again,” while accusing various political adversaries, including former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and others, of failing to release damaging information related to Epstein.
Trump expressed his discontent with the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Epstein, questioning why his political opponents had not leveraged any potentially damaging information. He remarked, “If there was ANYTHING in there that could have hurt the MAGA Movement, why didn’t they use it?”
In a further call to action, Trump urged Kash Patel, the FBI Director, to prioritize investigations concerning “Voter Fraud, Political Corruption, ActBlue,” and issues related to the 2020 election. He highlighted his belief that the FBI should shift focus from Epstein-related documents, labeling them as “the same old, Radical Left inspired Documents.”
Trump concluded his series of statements by reinforcing his support for Bondi, urging, “LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!” He dismissed Epstein as “somebody that nobody cares about,” framing the discourse around Bondi and the ongoing investigations as a distraction from his administration’s agenda.
The evolving situation underscores the complexities within the Trump administration as it navigates internal and external pressures related to the Epstein investigation, while also addressing the concerns of its base.
