John Wayne Davidson, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of love and adventure. Born in San Pedro, California, to Cleo and John Davidson, he was the eldest of three brothers and grew up with a passion for the outdoors, particularly camping and fishing. John attended White Point, Dana, and San Pedro High School, where he was actively involved in the swim team and developed a fondness for his Volkswagen Bug and the Pedro car club.
John’s journey intertwined with that of Laureen Demaria, whom he met in school. They graduated together in the Class of ’69 and married on October 2, 1971. Their family grew with the arrival of their daughter, Kimmy, in 1973. The family frequently enjoyed weekends at “the river,” where John felt most at home, indulging in water skiing, jet skiing, parasailing, and fishing—his greatest passion.
In 1977, John’s father-in-law, Anthony Demaria Sr., founded Demaria Electric, and John joined as one of the first employees. His strong work ethic and intelligence earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues and family alike. In 1984, he and his family relocated to Bullhead City, Arizona, marking the realization of a long-held dream of living by the water. In Bullhead City, John served as a firefighter, eventually becoming Battalion Chief, while also establishing Davidson Electric.
John’s life in Bullhead City was filled with cherished memories, including hosting family gatherings and the well-loved “Bullhead Easter Bunny Hop,” where relatives gathered to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the lake. He was known for his kindness and generosity, nurturing strong relationships with his loved ones, including his daughter Kimmy, son-in-law David Hansen, and grandchildren Dalton and Renn.
John’s passing leaves a significant void, but he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His family recalls him as a great man who loved deeply and was equally loved in return. As they reflect on their time with him, they take comfort in the memories made and the lasting impact he has had on their lives.
As they say goodbye, the family hopes John is up there, finally catching that “Big Bass in the sky” he always dreamed of.
