Plasmidsaurus has introduced a new RNA-Seq service specifically designed for Illumina short read applications. This innovative service, unveiled at the ASHG annual conference in Boston, adapts the company’s established methods for plasmid sequencing to enhance gene expression analysis. Attendees at the conference will have the opportunity to engage with Plasmidsaurus scientists and explore new RNA-Seq analytics tools, as highlighted by Mark Budde, co-founder and CEO of Plasmidsaurus.
“Getting good transcriptomics data shouldn’t take weeks of hassle. Send us cells and we’ll get you answers,” Budde stated, emphasizing the streamlined process. The new RNA-Seq service promises significant advantages in RNA expression profiling. According to Budde, crude cell preparations can yield fully analyzed data in as little as three days. Additionally, cultured cells can be submitted using Zymo DNA/RNA Shield at room temperature, thanks to a network of drop-boxes. This user-friendly approach eliminates the need for a bioinformatician, allowing customers to conduct gene expression experiments directly on the results page.
Molly Gasperini, associate director of genome engineering at the Allen Institute and an early access user of the RNA-Seq service, praised the efficiency of the offering, stating, “Huge kudos to Plasmidsaurus for this incredibly fast, affordable service.”
The innovations at Plasmidsaurus extend beyond RNA-Seq. Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Jim Stapleton noted the system’s potential benefits for pharmaceutical and biotech companies, particularly those requiring rapid feedback on drug candidates or genome editing. “Every day we see how seamless sequencing services unlock new applications, better workflows, and accelerated science,” Stapleton remarked. “We can’t wait to see what researchers can do with faster and more accessible RNA-Seq.”
In recent months, Plasmidsaurus has expanded its offerings, launching overnight microbiome amplicon sequencing to support microbiology research and introducing a fast, low-input AAV genome sequencing service to enhance gene therapy research and development. The company also opened its tenth global sequencing lab in Singapore.
As the demand for rapid and reliable sequencing services grows, Plasmidsaurus positions itself at the forefront of genomic innovation, paving the way for advancements in research and application across various scientific fields.
