Visitors can now explore the extraordinary possibilities of enhanced human abilities at the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Starting on October 28, 2023, the center unveils a special exhibition titled “Super Human: The Power of Technology,” inviting guests to engage with more than 20 interactive experiences designed to challenge the limits of human capability.
The exhibition features a range of hands-on activities that allow participants to experience what it might be like to possess superhuman powers. Guests can climb into an exoskeleton to test their strength, race against a Paralympian, pilot a virtual jetpack, and control a robotic arm using only gestures. Additionally, visitors can navigate the dark while wearing night-vision goggles, use voice commands to manage appliances within a model home, and experiment with aerodynamics in a wind tunnel. Brain-training games also encourage cognitive enhancement, making the exhibit both educational and entertaining.
Inspiring Future Innovators
According to William Katzman, Vice President for Exhibits at the Great Lakes Science Center, the exhibition aims to provoke thought about the impact of technology on human interaction. “Guests will be encouraged to think about how technology changes how we interact with the world,” he stated in a press release. Katzman emphasized the exhibition’s goal: “This exhibit succeeds when visitors imagine future inventions they want to see. What tools would you invent? How do cutting-edge bio-mechanical tools inspire you? We hope this exhibition will inspire a new generation of bioengineers and prompt reflection on the ethical considerations of these technologies.”
The exhibition will remain open until April 26, 2024, and is included with general admission to the Science Center.
Film Premiere Enhances the Experience
On the same opening day, the Science Center will debut the film “Superhuman Body: World of Medical Marvels” in the Dome Theater. Narrated by acclaimed actor Matthew McConaughey, the film showcases the inspiring stories of three individuals whose lives have been transformed by groundbreaking medical innovations.
For those interested in exploring these engaging activities or attending the film, tickets are available through the Science Center’s website at GreatScience.com. The Great Lakes Science Center continues to be a hub for innovation and education, offering visitors a captivating glimpse into the future of human potential.
