Community Mourns the Passing of Toyoko Yanohira at 94

Toyoko Yanohira, a beloved resident of Gardena, California, passed away at the age of 94 on September 28, 2025, at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Her legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Yasuo Yanohira, and her children, Janice Sunahara and Eric Yanohira.

Born in Waipahu, Hawaii, Toyoko’s life was marked by her deep commitment to family and community. She is survived by her son and daughter, along with her grandson, Drew Sunahara, and granddaughters, Keira Sunahara and Emma Yanohira. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will cherish her memory.

Services Planned for October 18

A memorial service to honor Toyoko Yanohira will take place at 12 p.m. on October 18, 2025, at Fukui Mortuary located at 707 E. Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The service will be officiated by Pastor Daniel Matsuda of Gardena Valley Baptist Church. Family and friends are encouraged to attend to celebrate her life and contributions to the community.
