David Anthony Gilles, aged 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on an unspecified date. Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, California, to William and Carol Gilles, Dave was known for his steadfast dedication to family and community.
Dave graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and furthered his education at community colleges in Torrance, California, and Pasco, Washington. He married his wife, Nancy Erd, in 1980. The couple settled in Richland, Washington, where they raised their four children: Darlene (Jose) Bejar, Wendy, David (Juliana), and Heather.
Over his career, Dave made significant contributions at the Hanford Nuclear Site. He began as a bus driver and progressed through various management positions, ultimately retiring as the Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms. In 2023, he and Nancy moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, to enjoy their newly built home.
Dave was widely regarded as a tireless provider and caregiver. His reserved demeanor often concealed a witty and clever sense of humor. Friends and family recall that if he was teasing you, it likely meant he held you in high regard. His commitment to teaching and mentoring was evident in both his personal and professional life.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; their four children; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, William (Roni). Dave’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him.
In honor of his memory, donations can be made to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation. Family and friends are encouraged to visit Dave’s online memorial to pay their respects and share their memories.
