AMD Silo AI has partnered with Robotec.ai to create an open ecosystem aimed at enhancing robotics and autonomous systems. This collaboration focuses on optimizing digital twin and scenario reconstruction workloads, specifically for next-generation automotive and robotics applications utilizing AMD Instinct GPUs alongside the ROCm software stack.
Robotec.ai specializes in simulation platforms for robotics and is committed to developing safe and human-friendly robotics solutions. With AMD’s support, the partnership seeks to utilize Robotec.ai’s open-source, AI-driven digital twin simulation tools, further enhancing the capabilities of their flagship RoSi platform. This end-to-end tool supports the development, training, and testing of autonomous systems.
Enhancing Robotics Through Open-Source Innovation
The collaboration combines Robotec.ai’s technological advancements with AMD’s scalable compute platforms. The integration of RoSi Sensors, powered by the RGS ray-tracing library, optimizes GPU performance for LiDAR and radar simulations. This development facilitates rapid testing of complex multi-sensor configurations, crucial for advancing robotics applications.
Michal Niezgoda, CEO and co-founder of Robotec.ai, emphasized the importance of open-source technology, stating, “Open source empowers customers to evaluate technology on their own terms, inspect code for cybersecurity, and benefit from a community that validates and improves solutions.” He further noted that reliance on proprietary solutions can limit innovation and flexibility.
The partnership aims to expand the robotics ecosystem by developing open-source solutions that accelerate development cycles. It also opens avenues for academic collaborations and contributions from third parties. Peter Sarlin, CEO and co-founder of AMD Silo AI, highlighted the shared commitment to open-source innovation, which enhances digital sovereignty and facilitates seamless portability of GPU workloads.
Building the Future of Autonomous Systems
Through this collaboration, AMD Silo AI is also focusing on cloud- and edge-based deployments for robotic applications. They are currently testing the capabilities of a fully autonomous warehouse robot, which utilizes agentic AI to dynamically plan and execute tasks in real time without reliance on hard-coded scripts. This robot operates exclusively on AMD Ryzen AI processors designed for embedded systems.
AMD Silo AI, which was established following the acquisition of a Finnish AI lab last year, is committed to enhancing access to high-performance robotics simulation on a global scale. The collaboration with Robotec.ai, along with previous partnerships such as that with Parallel Domain, positions AMD as a leader in creating a robust ecosystem that integrates cutting-edge software with advanced GPU infrastructure tailored for the autonomous and robotics industries.
As the demand for sophisticated robotics and autonomous systems continues to grow, this partnership between AMD and Robotec.ai represents a significant step toward fostering innovation and enhancing the capabilities of these technologies. Through collaborative efforts, they are paving the way for a future where robotics can operate safely and efficiently across diverse environments.
