Two men have been charged following a shooting incident targeting a woman’s home and vehicle in Glenburn, Maine, on March 10, 2024. The individuals, identified as George Overlock, 36, from Carmel, and Raphael Cupidon, 22, from Massachusetts, were apprehended after leading law enforcement on a chase.
According to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, Overlock faces multiple charges, including aggravated drug trafficking, possession of firearms by a prohibited person, and refusing to stop for police. Cupidon has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking and refusal to submit to arrest. Both suspects allegedly engaged in the shooting around 15:10 (3:10 p.m.) at a residence on Danforth Drive, where they reportedly fired weapons at the home and a vehicle parked outside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those inside the property.
Following the shooting, deputies traced the suspects to a truck on Union Street in Hermon. Overlock, who was allegedly driving the vehicle, attempted to evade capture, leading authorities on a pursuit through several streets, including Davis Road in Bangor and Finson Road. The chase concluded when the truck slowed down, allowing Cupidon and another individual to exit and flee on foot, while Overlock drove the vehicle back toward Glenburn.
The pursuit continued as Overlock abandoned the vehicle and reportedly broke into a home on Lake View Road in an attempt to evade police. When officers arrived to apprehend him, he allegedly resisted arrest. During this incident, the homeowners’ 9-year-old English mastiff, named Rosie, escaped and has not been located since. The homeowners were not present during the break-in.
Law enforcement utilized police dogs to track Cupidon, who fled into the woods off Finson Road. His location was discovered under a mobile home nearby. Search warrants executed in Bangor and Hampden resulted in the seizure of approximately half a kilo of drugs and two handguns linked to the incident.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office indicated that the investigation remains ongoing, with efforts to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the shooting. The office stated, “No additional information will be provided at this time to avoid compromising the investigation.”
As authorities continue their inquiries, the local community remains on alert following this alarming event. The situation underscores ongoing concerns over gun violence and public safety in residential areas.
