Saluda Welcomes Autumn with Community Events and Fundraisers

As September unfolds, the community of Saluda, North Carolina, is preparing for a series of engaging events and initiatives aimed at fostering connection and support among residents. With the arrival of cooler evenings, the local atmosphere is filled with anticipation for gatherings that celebrate both community spirit and the changing seasons.

The month kicks off with a special event at the Saluda Depot Museum on September 19 at 19:00. Resident historian and volunteer Dave O’Brien will delve into the history of the railroad’s development and its significant impact on Saluda. This presentation promises to offer insights into the town’s heritage and the role of the railroad in shaping its identity.

On September 28, the community is invited to the Saluda Strong Community Picnic at McCreery Park, from 17:00 to 21:00. This informal gathering encourages residents to bring their own picnic and share food with neighbors, friends, and family. It is an opportunity to connect and enjoy an evening of camaraderie. Organizers welcome anyone interested in contributing extra supplies, such as tables, drinks, and decorations, to sign up at local establishments like Pace’s General Store and Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks.

The Saluda Pop-up Pantry will host its second annual fundraiser on October 2 at The Saluda Inn from 18:00 to 21:00. Tickets for this event are available at various local outlets, including the Pantry on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at River Dog Run on weekends. The fundraiser features live music by local artist Aaron Burdett & Friends, along with live and silent auctions showcasing unique experiences and artwork. Over the past year, the Saluda Pantry has expanded its services, assisting more than 2,998 families and 18,149 individuals across Polk and Henderson counties.

In cultural news, the Saluda Library features local artist Lori Loftus as the artist of the month. The library community also bids farewell to Paul Rhodes, who is retiring after years of dedicated service, leaving a lasting impact on the institution.

As September unfolds, the community celebrates not only the arrival of autumn but also the bonds that strengthen their neighborhood. Those celebrating birthdays this month include names like Wayne Thompson, Courtney Hoots, Merci Weitzen, and many others, reminding the community of the personal connections that enrich their lives.

Residents are encouraged to reach out for more information or to get involved with events by contacting [email protected] or visiting www.saludapantry.com for online ticket purchases. Saluda’s commitment to community support and connection shines brightly as the season changes, inviting everyone to participate in the spirit of togetherness.
