A 38-year-old man from Nashua, New Hampshire, has been arrested on two felony charges for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements. The Nashua Police Department announced the arrest of Stanley Urbanowicz on July 4, 2023, following an investigation into his registration status that lasted several months.
The inquiry began when police received information in January indicating that Urbanowicz had obtained a new cellphone but had not reported this change, as is legally required for registered sex offenders. Investigators discovered he also missed a mandatory semi-annual registration appointment with the Nashua Police. These actions led to charges of duty to report and change of registration information, both classified as Class A felonies.
Urbanowicz was released on $300 cash bail and is scheduled for arraignment at the 9th Circuit District Division Court in Nashua at 1 p.m. on July 31, 2023. The police urge anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Nashua Police Crime Line at 603-589-1665, with the option for anonymous calls.
According to the New Hampshire Department of Safety Sex Offender Registry, Urbanowicz is required to register due to a conviction for indecent exposure and lewdness in 2004. This conviction was adjudicated in the Hillsboro County Superior Court South in Nashua. The registry also reveals a troubling criminal history for Urbanowicz, which includes convictions for robbery, reckless conduct, criminal threatening, theft, simple assault, violation of probation, and previous failures to report.
As of the latest update from the registry, Urbanowicz does not have any active parole or probation and was last reported as homeless in Nashua. He has a secondary address listed on Vine Street.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of ensuring compliance among registered sex offenders, a crucial aspect of community safety. The Nashua Police continue to monitor such cases closely to uphold public safety and enforce the law.
