Indiana House Republicans Launch Paid Internships for 2026 Session

The Indiana House Republicans have officially opened the application process for paid internships for the upcoming 2026 legislative session. This initiative, announced by Representatives Ethan Manning (R-Logansport) and Heath VanNatter (R-Kokomo), provides students with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the state’s legislative processes. The program is targeted at current college students, recent graduates, and individuals enrolled in graduate or law schools.

Internships will take place from January to March 2026 in Indianapolis, where selected candidates will be immersed in the operations of the Indiana Statehouse. According to a release from the Indiana House Republicans, this program offers full-time, paid positions designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application. Manning highlighted the importance of this opportunity by stating, “This is a valuable opportunity to build relationships and get exposure to state government.”

Interns will engage directly with legislative activities, gaining experience in policy-making and communications. This hands-on involvement will allow participants to understand the intricate workings of state government. VanNatter emphasized the importance of networking, noting that interns will connect with experienced professionals across various sectors. This interaction will provide insights that are difficult to obtain outside of the legislative environment.

The internship program aims to nurture the next generation of leaders by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in public service and related fields. The application process is now open, and interested candidates are encouraged to apply early to secure their place in this competitive program.

This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the Indiana House Republicans to engage young people in the legislative process and foster a deeper understanding of state governance. With the potential for valuable career advancements, those who participate in this program will not only gain work experience but also contribute to the legislative efforts that shape their communities.
