Georgia Keenan, a beloved member of the Williamsburg, Virginia community, passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 75. Originally from Bay City, Texas, she lived in various states throughout her life, including Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, Colorado, Montana, Washington, and Oregon. It was in Oregon that she met her late husband, James Keenan, with whom she shared 27 years of marriage.
When they learned they were expecting their first child, Georgia and James moved to Williamsburg to be closer to her parents, Welton and Bobbie Bryant. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter for Georgia, who dedicated nearly three decades to her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at several facilities, including Dominion Village, Patriot’s Colony, and Williamsburg Landing, where she specialized in caring for senior citizens with dementia. Georgia viewed this work as her calling.
A Life of Service and Community Involvement
Beyond her nursing career, Georgia was actively involved with the American Red Cross and served as a consultant for Mary Kay. Her commitment to community service extended to her role at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where she taught Kindergarten Sunday school for many years. Georgia’s contributions to both her profession and her community reflected her deep compassion and commitment to helping others.
Georgia graduated from York High School in 1967, setting a foundation for her lifelong learning and passion for knowledge. A devoted reader, she found joy in literature and shared her love for animals with those around her. Her keen sense of humor often brought laughter to her family and friends, making her a cherished presence in their lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Keenan, and her husband, Benjamin Brummett. Additionally, her brother, Gary Bryant, and her daughter’s Godmother, Mary Overby, are among those mourning her loss.
