Guy N. Solano, a respected member of the community and accomplished athlete, passed away at the age of 51 on December 13, 2025, at his home. Born on April 20, 1974, in Pittston, he was the son of the late Nicholas “Nicky” Solano and Marsha (Maleski) Knoll.
A graduate of Pittston Area High School in 1992, Solano furthered his education at Luzerne County Community College. He became well-known as the owner and operator of GNS Tobacco Stores, with locations in Moscow and Duryea.
Solano’s passion for sports was evident throughout his life. In 1994, he became a Golden Gloves amateur boxing champion, a title that marked the beginning of his impressive career in combat sports. His love for boxing led him to transition into Mixed Martial Arts, where he continued to compete and excel. Over the years, he dedicated significant time to training and mentoring young athletes in the discipline.
Beyond his athletic pursuits, Solano was a talented musician, playing drums for various local bands. His vibrant personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Friends and family remember him as someone who lived life to the fullest and inspired those around him.
Solano is survived by his children, Nico Solano and Ariana Solano, her fiancé Jake Wysocki, as well as his granddaughter, Amelia Wysocki. He also leaves behind his fiancé, Alicia Bruneio, his brother, Nicholas Solano Jr., stepbrother Jason Llewellyn, and stepmother Grace (Walsh) Solano.
Memorial Service Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on January 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church (Corpus Christi Parish), located at 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Monsignor John J. Sempa will officiate the service. Friends and family are invited to visit for a calling hour from 9:00 AM until the start of the Mass.
