Community Mourns the Loss of Beloved Matriarch Patricia Isajiw

Patricia Isajiw, a cherished matriarch and community volunteer, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, at the age of 82. Her family and friends remember her as a source of kindness, strength, and unconditional love. Patricia’s life journey began on July 22, 1943, in Gloversville, New York, where she was born to Margaret and Joseph Cahill.

Growing up in New Jersey and Philadelphia, Patricia developed a strong sense of community that would define her life. She worked as a hospital administrator, a profession that showcased her dedication to helping others. It was in Philadelphia that she met her husband, Dr. George Isajiw, and together they built a loving family in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, where they raised seven children.

Patricia was not only a devoted mother but also an active participant in her community. Her commitment to education was evident through her volunteering efforts at St. Laurence School. She played a vital role in mentoring young women facing unplanned pregnancies, providing support and guidance during challenging times. Alongside her husband, she contributed to the family’s medical practice, demonstrating a strong partnership both at home and in their professional lives.

The impact Patricia had on her family and the community is profound. She is survived by her husband, Dr. George Isajiw, and her children: Kelly Caviston (Sean), David Isajiw, Peter Isajiw (Deanna), Michael Isajiw (Kathryn Willcox), and Dan Isajiw (Christine). She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings, Peggy Gray, Joe Cahill (Margie), and Kathy Razzi (Domenick).

In her passing, Patricia leaves a significant void. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Joseph Cahill, as well as her daughter, Colleen Melchiorre, and son, Andrew F.X. Isajiw. Her family recalls her humor, strength, and the joy she brought to their lives.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 18:00 to 20:00 at The Donohue Funeral Home, located at 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 12:30 PM at St. Laurence Church, situated at 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. All are welcome to attend as they celebrate Patricia’s life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Laurence Elementary School via their website, saintlaurence.org. Patricia Isajiw’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Online condolences can be left at www.donohuefuneralhome.com.
