Election Day for school boards and municipal offices is set for November 4, 2024, in jurisdictions covered by The Mercury. As mail-in and drop-off ballots begin to arrive, candidates are being urged to complete online questionnaires to provide voters with essential information about their platforms.
Due to the high number of candidates, The Mercury lacks the resources to conduct individual interviews with each candidate. To bridge this gap, online questionnaires have been made available for both municipal and school board candidates. Candidates can access the school board candidate questionnaire at this link: School Board Questionnaire. The municipal candidate questionnaire can be found here: Municipal Questionnaire.
In addition to answering the questions, candidates have the option to submit a photo to reporter Evan Brandt via email at [email protected]. Responses must be submitted by October 14, 2024, to ensure inclusion in the forthcoming election preview articles. Any submissions received after this date will be included as space allows.
The responses collected will be pivotal in shaping the election preview articles focused on the upcoming school board and municipal board races. It is important to note that The Mercury will only publish stories regarding contested elections; if there are no challengers in a race, no preview article will be generated.
This initiative aims to provide voters with a clear understanding of their candidates, ensuring informed decisions at the polls.
