Zach Olson has stepped into the role of Factory Manager at the American Crystal Sugar Company’s facility located in East Grand Forks, North Dakota. This appointment, effective immediately, places him at the helm of all factory operations, which encompass production, maintenance, capital projects, engineering, environmental oversight, safety, product quality, and security.
Olson brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Dakota State University and has been with American Crystal Sugar since 2015. Initially, he started as the Maintenance Superintendent at the Hillsboro factory, where he developed a solid foundation in operational management.
Progression and Responsibilities
Most recently, Olson served as the Factory Manager for the Crookston Factory, where he honed his leadership skills and operational expertise. In his new role at East Grand Forks, he will be responsible for enhancing production efficiency and maintaining the high safety and quality standards that American Crystal is known for.
American Crystal Sugar Company is recognized as the nation’s largest producer of beet sugar. The company operates multiple facilities across the region, including those in Moorhead, Crookston, and East Grand Forks in Minnesota, as well as in Hillsboro and Drayton in North Dakota. As a grower-owned cooperative, it plays a significant role in local agriculture and the economy.
Olson’s leadership is expected to drive further growth and innovation at the East Grand Forks plant, contributing to the cooperative’s long-standing tradition of excellence in sugar production. His technical background and managerial experience position him well to lead the factory into its next phase of development.
