Weatherly American Legion Honors Veterans with Ceremony and Prize Event

The Weatherly American Legion Post 360 and Auxiliary Unit 360 are preparing to honor veterans on November 11, 2023, with a series of events aimed at recognizing their service and raising funds for veterans’ programs. The day will begin with a Veterans Day program held at the Weatherly Area School District at 09:00, followed by a commemorative ceremony at the memorial monument located in front of Schwab High School at 11:00.

Following the ceremony, the American Legion will host an “Extravaganza of Prizes” drawing at the Legion Post Home at 12:00. This event will feature various prizes, including gift cards, cash awards, and baskets filled with items generously donated by local businesses and members of the American Legion family. Tickets for the drawing are priced at $5 and can be purchased from any member of the Weatherly American Legion family.

All funds raised during this event will directly support programs dedicated to veterans. For further details, interested individuals can contact Judy Desrosiers, a member of Unit 360, at 570-657-5254, or reach out to Georgia Farrow at 570-427-4527. Additional contacts include Ray Desrosiers, Jr., the Vice Commander of Post 360, at 570-436-3509, and Paul Bray, a member of Post 360, at 570-401-1654.

The prize drawing will be open to the public, and winners do not need to be present to claim their prizes. All winners will be notified, and they are advised to retain their ticket stubs for prize collection. This event not only serves to honor veterans but also fosters community spirit and support for those who have served their country.
