Uniqlo has unveiled a new apparel and accessories collection inspired by the upcoming animated film, Zootopia 2. This collaboration, part of Disney’s Magic for All project, will be available in stores and online starting November 1, 2023. The collection aims to blend fashion with imagination, reflecting Uniqlo’s commitment to its Lifewear philosophy.
Yukihiro Katsuta, group senior executive officer at Uniqlo, emphasized the brand’s vision, stating, “Our ‘Zootopia’ collection brings that vision to life for people around the world.” This initiative coincides with Disney’s “Ssssurprise Week,” a promotional event tied to the new film featuring the character Gary De’Snake, voiced by Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan.
Collection Features and Design
The limited-edition collection includes 15 new unisex styles for both adults and children. It features vibrant colorways and comfortable casual wear, such as roomy sweatshirts and graphic T-shirts that highlight beloved characters from the original film. Fans will see references to Judy Hopps, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, and Nick Wilde, voiced by Jason Bateman, as well as the introduction of new characters from the sequel.
Designed to be both stylish and practical, the collection is set to launch during the peak of the fall season, tapping into current fashion trends. The assortment aims to resonate with families and fans of the original Zootopia, blending nostalgia with contemporary style.
A Legacy of Collaboration
Uniqlo’s partnership with Disney dates back over a decade, beginning in 2009. The collaboration has produced various themed collections, including a notable release in 2015 that showcased bohemian styles and casual items. Uniqlo’s growth from a textiles manufacturer established in Japan to a global apparel giant with over 1,000 stores worldwide has been marked by such strategic partnerships.
Recently, Uniqlo celebrated the fifth anniversary of its circular initiative, Re.Uniqlo, which focuses on sustainability by promoting recycling, offering repair services, and launching resale programs. This commitment to environmentally friendly practices aligns with the brand’s broader goals.
As anticipation builds for the release of Zootopia 2, set to hit theaters on November 26, 2023, the collaboration with Uniqlo is poised to capture the imagination of audiences and provide fans with stylish ways to celebrate their favorite characters.
