Stanley Michael Greenway I, affectionately known as “Mike,” passed away on July 16, 2025, in Landrum, South Carolina. He was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and service within his community.
Born in South Carolina to William and Wilma Greenway, Mike was shaped by the values of faith, hard work, and kindness. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Police officer during the Vietnam War, where his commitment to duty and service began. Following his military career, he became a beloved figure in Greer, known for his warm heart and quick wit.
A Passion for Music and Community Service
Mike’s love for music was a central part of his life. A talented guitar player, he performed at church services, community gatherings, and family events, spreading joy through his melodies. His musical talent resonated with many, offering comfort and connection to those around him.
A graduate of Landrum High School and Furman University, Mike devoted much of his time to his church and community. He was known for sharing his talents and resources generously, embodying the spirit of community service. His dedication left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Patricia Greenway; stepdaughter, Wendy Alcala; brother, Alan Greenway; sister-in-law, Greta Greenway; niece, Rhiannon; and four grandchildren, Lillian, Zarik, Mackenzie, and Josh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Benze, in 2019, his sister, Vickie Greenway, also in 2019, and his son, Michael Greenway, in 1998.
A Legacy of Love and Generosity
Mike’s life was a testament to the values of love, service, and generosity. He will be remembered not only for his musical talents but also for the countless lives he touched through his kindness and support. His memory will endure in the hearts of those he inspired.
