Dignity Health North State reported significant community outreach during the recent holiday season, particularly through its program at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff, California. The hospital’s “Adopt a Senior” initiative provided support to 72 seniors in the local area who otherwise would not have received gifts during this festive period. This program is part of a broader effort to ensure that vulnerable populations receive necessary assistance during the holidays.
The “Adopt a Senior” program focuses on delivering gifts to seniors in need, illustrating the hospital’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of its community members. According to the Dignity Health Connected Living website, the initiative aims to ensure that no senior feels forgotten during the holidays.
In addition to the senior support, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital actively participated in the California Highway Patrol’s “Chips for Kids” toy drive. The emergency department collected toys to distribute to children throughout Tehama County, aiming to brighten the holidays for those in need. The hospital also gathered toys for the Corning School District, aiding at-risk and homeless children and teens in the community.
Furthermore, the quality team at the hospital made a special effort to assist a single mother and her five children. They provided $800 in gift cards, new clothing, makeup, and toys, demonstrating a dedicated approach to local family support.
The impact of Dignity Health’s outreach extended beyond holiday gifts. Following funding freezes to supplemental nutrition assistance programs, the Connected Living program from Redding delivered food to approximately 800 individuals in December alone. This response highlights the organization’s commitment to addressing immediate food insecurity in the community.
Rodger Page, the North State Market President for Dignity Health, emphasized the importance of these local giving efforts. “Supporting our local communities is at the heart of everything we do,” Page stated. “Our employees don’t just work here—they live here, raise their families here and embody our mission of spreading humankindness every day. Whether they’re caring for patients at the bedside or volunteering in our communities, their dedication to serving others is an inspiration to us all.”
As the new year unfolds, Dignity Health North State remains dedicated to enhancing outreach and support programs, striving to improve lives in the communities they serve.
