The 2025 Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center will be a local delight, arriving from the Russ family home in East Greenbush, New York, just outside Albany. This towering Norway Spruce stands at an impressive 75 feet, weighs 11 tons, and has a diameter of 45 feet. Judy Russ, who resides in the historic family home with her 7-year-old son, Liam, expressed her joy, stating, “I’m excited to make more cherished memories with my family and childhood friends as it becomes the world’s Christmas tree.”
The tree is scheduled to arrive in Midtown Manhattan on November 8, 2025, for the annual “Meet the Tree Day,” allowing New Yorkers and visitors their first glimpse ahead of the holiday season. This event marks the beginning of the festive activities at the iconic location.
In 2024, the tree came from West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, which was a significant event as it was the first time since 1959 that the tree had originated from that state. The previous year’s tree, an 80-foot Norway Spruce, was illuminated during a televised ceremony featuring live performances and remained on display until mid-January.
Once the East Greenbush tree arrives, it will be adorned with over 50,000 colorful LED lights and topped with a stunning Swarovski star. The lighting ceremony is set for December 3, 2025, promising to draw large crowds eager to witness this beloved holiday tradition. The tree will remain on display until mid-January, continuing to spread holiday cheer throughout the city.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is not just a symbol of the festive season but also an integral part of New York City’s holiday identity. Each year, the tree attracts thousands of visitors, becoming a focal point for celebrations and gatherings. As anticipation builds for this year’s reveal, the local community and the Russ family can take pride in their contribution to this cherished tradition.
