Remembering Edward Andrejko: A Life of Passion and Service

Edward Stephen Andrejko, a longtime resident of Burnt Hills, New York, and more recently of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2025. He is remembered for his warmth, numerous friendships, and a life rich with stories and wisdom that will continue to resonate with those who knew him.

Born on May 28, 1936, in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, Ed was the son of Anna (Kulek) and Emory Andrejko. He pursued higher education at Penn State in Wilkes-Barre, where he earned an associate degree before graduating with a degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University. Throughout his career, Ed worked at General Electric in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, where he showcased his diligence and precision in the large steam turbines department.

In 1959, Ed married Gloria Lokuta, who became the love of his life. Together, they raised three children: William, Lorraine, and Anne. In 1968, the family relocated to Burnt Hills, New York, allowing Ed to continue his career with G.E. at the Schenectady complex.

Ed’s professional achievements reflected his commitment to excellence, a trait that permeated his personal life. He had a profound appreciation for the outdoors, instilling a respect for nature in his children and grandchildren. His retirement was marked by various outdoor activities such as fly fishing, boating, hiking, berry picking, and swimming in Lake George. Ed’s passion for the environment was further highlighted by his membership in Trout Unlimited, an organization devoted to the preservation of rivers and streams.

Ed found immense joy in fly fishing, often spending time on rivers like the Battenkill in Vermont and the Yellowstone in Montana with his friends. His love for nature and community extended to his faith; he dedicated time and service through the Knights of Columbus and at Immaculate Conception Church in Glenville, New York.

Later in life, Ed reignited his passion for chess, finding friends willing to share the game with him at his residence in Rose Tree Place, Media. His ability to connect and engage with others remained a defining aspect of his character.

Edward Andrejko is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; his sister, Mary Ann Novitsky; his children, William Andrejko, Lorraine Isaac, and Anne Andrejko; and his grandchildren, Rachel Isaac, Harrison Isaac, Lucy Shea, and Margot Shea.

A memorial gathering for relatives and friends will take place on November 6, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:00 AM at Nativity BVM Church, located at 30 E. Franklin St., Media, Pennsylvania. A Mass will follow at 11:00 AM, with interment to be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Catholic Relief Services at www.crs.org or Trout Unlimited at patrout.org.

Arrangements are being handled by J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home. Edward Andrejko’s legacy of love, service, and passion for life will be cherished by all who knew him.
