Ann Marie Montagino, aged 81, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, in Rotterdam, New York. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Walter and Sophie Schultz Dombroski. Montagino’s life was marked by her dedication to education and her cherished family, particularly her grandchildren.
After completing her studies at Mansfield State University, Montagino embarked on a fulfilling career as a fifth-grade teacher at Schoharie Elementary School. It was here that she formed a lasting friendship with fellow educator Marjorie Cummings, sharing both a passion for teaching and a commitment to their students.
Montagino’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her son, Charles J. Montagino, and his partner, Ericka, along with her beloved grandchildren, Michaela and Joseph Montagino. Her husband, Charles Montagino, predeceased her on February 22, 2025. She is also survived by three brothers: John Dombroski (Barbara), Gerard Dombroski, and Thomas Dombroski (Deborah), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter J. Dombroski.
Funeral Arrangements and Tributes
A calling hour will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Avenue, Rotterdam. This will be followed by a prayer service at 12:00 noon. The burial will take place at Sts. Cyril & Method Cemetery in Rotterdam.
