Moorhead Schools Celebrate Achievements and Community Support

As the season of thanksgiving approaches, Brandon Lunak, superintendent of Moorhead Area Public Schools (MAPS), expressed profound gratitude for the community’s steadfast support. In a letter to residents, Lunak highlighted the critical decisions faced by the district this year and how local residents responded with clarity and conviction, ensuring the retention of talented staff and the continuation of quality educational programs.

This support has played a crucial role in establishing a stable financial foundation for the district, setting the stage for a promising future. Lunak emphasized that the achievements within the schools are a direct result of community trust and commitment. “Amazing things are happening every day across MAPS, and this fall has been no exception,” he stated.

Historic Sports Achievement and Vibrant Arts Programs

This season has been marked by significant accomplishments in both athletics and the arts. The Moorhead High School (MHS) football team made history by competing in the state championship in its inaugural year in the 6A division. This remarkable feat underscores the dedication and hard work of the student-athletes and coaches involved.

In addition to sports, the MHS theater program is set to bring the beloved musical “Frozen” to life on stage this weekend. This production showcases the incredible talent and effort of students, staff, and volunteers, further enhancing the cultural offerings of the school.

Commitment to Academic Excellence

Beyond these highlights, the classrooms at MAPS continue to thrive with academic growth and innovative learning opportunities. The district is actively expanding partnerships that strengthen resources and opportunities for all learners. Lunak noted that these successes are made possible by the community’s belief in the educational mission of the schools.

As the 2025-26 school year progresses, the focus remains on not only the current academic calendar but also on the next decade and beyond. Lunak thanked the community for their ongoing support, stating, “Together, we are investing in progress and building a future where every child has the tools they need to succeed.” This collective effort emphasizes the importance of collaboration in fostering an environment conducive to student growth and achievement.
