McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary School Donates 591 Items to Charity

Members of the Community Service Club at McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary School organized a successful collection drive, gathering a total of 591 items for donation to Operation CAN DO. This initiative, which took place in October 2023, highlights the school’s commitment to community service and support for those in need.

The collection aimed to provide essential items to families in the local area facing food insecurity. Students and families contributed various goods, including canned foods, personal hygiene products, and household supplies. The effort not only supports the community but also teaches young students the value of giving back.

Operation CAN DO, a local charity, focuses on providing food and resources to families who find themselves in challenging situations. The donation from the Community Service Club will significantly impact the organization’s ability to assist those in need during the upcoming months.

In reflecting on the success of the drive, a spokesperson from the Community Service Club expressed pride in the students’ dedication and the overwhelming support from the school community. “It’s heartwarming to see everyone come together for a common cause,” said the spokesperson.

The initiative aligns with the school’s broader educational goals, emphasizing social responsibility and the importance of helping others. As the students participated in this drive, they learned valuable lessons about empathy and community engagement.

Overall, the collection drive at McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary School exemplifies the positive impact of student-led initiatives and the power of community support. By donating 591 items to Operation CAN DO, these young students have taken meaningful steps toward making a difference in their community.
