Margaret Belken, Beloved Matriarch, Passes Away at 89

Margaret ‘Peggy’ Rose Belken, an esteemed member of the Lakeville community, passed away peacefully in Boston on November 27, 2025, at the age of 89 following a brief illness. A cherished matriarch, she was the devoted wife of the late Leslie V. Belken, who preceded her in death in 1999.

Born on July 9, 1936, in Lowell, Peggy moved to Lakeville in 1965, where she became an active member of the Saints Martha and Mary Parish. Her commitment to family and faith defined much of her life, as did her unwavering dedication to her nine children.

Peggy is survived by her children: Kathleen Gauthier and her husband Robert of Connecticut, Kevin and his wife Karen of Yarmouth, Kerri of Lakeville, Keith of Boston, Kristopher of Middleborough, Kyle of Middleborough, Kurt and his husband Mauricio Castro of Middleborough, Kara Belken-Tullos and her husband Shawn of Lakeville, and Kendra and her partner Kaileen of Berkley. In addition to her children, she leaves behind nine grandchildren, nine siblings, and numerous extended family members and friends who deeply cherished her.

Funeral Arrangements Announced

A Funeral Mass in Peggy’s honor will take place at 11:00 a.m. on December 11, 2025, at Saints Martha and Mary Church in Lakeville. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Lowell.

Visitation for family and friends will be held the evening prior, on December 10, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home in Lakeville. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life and legacy.

Peggy’s impact on her family and community will be remembered fondly. Her legacy of love and devotion continues to inspire those who knew her.
