The Lake George Senior Center has initiated its first-ever “Catsgiving” supply drive to support local feline welfare. This event aims to benefit both the North Shore Animal League and the Lake George Cat Program, which provides care and resources for stray and abandoned cats in the region.
The Catsgiving drive is set to run throughout the month of November 2023, encouraging community members to contribute essential supplies and funds. Items requested include food, litter, toys, and other resources that will aid in the care and rehabilitation of cats in need.
Community Involvement and Goals
Organizers at the Lake George Senior Center hope the Catsgiving drive will foster community spirit while addressing the growing needs of local cat populations. “This is a wonderful way for us to give back to our furry friends,” said Linda Thompson, director of the Senior Center. “We are excited to see our community come together to support this important cause.”
The North Shore Animal League, a well-respected organization with a long history of rescuing and caring for animals, will play a pivotal role in the distribution of collected supplies. By partnering with the Lake George Cat Program, they are ensuring that the resources directly benefit cats in the local area.
How to Participate
Residents can participate by dropping off donations at the Lake George Senior Center every weekday from 9:00 to 17:00. Monetary contributions are also welcomed, and individuals can make donations directly through the North Shore Animal League’s website.
In addition to helping animals, the Catsgiving drive aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by stray and abandoned cats. Community members are encouraged to spread the word and get involved in their local animal welfare initiatives.
The event not only highlights the needs of local cats but also emphasizes the role of community engagement in addressing these concerns. As the drive progresses, the Lake George Senior Center plans to host several informational sessions about responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
With the Catsgiving initiative, the Lake George Senior Center sets a positive example of how local organizations can work together to create a lasting impact on their communities and the animals that inhabit them.
