High School Students Explore Opportunities at College Fair

High school students from across Lafayette Parish gathered on October 24, 2025, for a college and career fair hosted by the Lafayette Parish School System. The event took place at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette, Louisiana, offering students a unique opportunity to explore various educational and professional paths.

The college and career fair showcased a diverse range of institutions and organizations. Over 50 colleges, universities, and trade schools participated, providing students with valuable information about their programs and admission processes. In addition to higher education options, local businesses also set up booths, highlighting potential job opportunities for students looking to enter the workforce after graduation.

Students engaged actively with representatives, asking questions and gathering resources to help them make informed decisions about their futures. Many highlighted the importance of such events in guiding their career choices. “It’s great to see so many options in one place,” said one student, who plans to pursue a degree in engineering.

The event aimed not only to inform students about academic opportunities but also to inspire them to consider various career pathways. Workshops on resume writing and interview skills were part of the day’s agenda, offering practical advice for students preparing to enter the job market.

According to the Lafayette Parish School System, the fair attracted a record number of attendees this year, reflecting a growing interest in post-secondary education and career readiness. “We are committed to providing our students with the resources they need to succeed,” said a representative from the school system. “Events like this connect students with the tools and information essential for their future.”

As students navigated the booths, many expressed excitement about the prospects of further education and career opportunities. With an array of choices available, students left the event feeling motivated and better prepared to make critical decisions about their paths forward.

The college and career fair at the Cajundome has become an annual highlight for the Lafayette community, fostering connections between students, educational institutions, and local businesses. As Louisiana continues to focus on enhancing educational outcomes, events like this play a crucial role in supporting the aspirations of its youth.
