Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania have officially launched their 2026 cookie season, introducing a new flavor that pays homage to the organization’s rich history. The new cookie, named Exploremores, is a rocky road ice cream–inspired sandwich cookie, featuring chocolate cookies filled with marshmallow and toasted almond–flavored creme. This debut aligns with the Girl Scout mission of exploration, offering a fresh addition to the beloved cookie lineup.
The annual cookie program serves as the largest fundraiser for the organization, supporting various troop activities, travel, service projects, and summer camp experiences. Proceeds from the sales are reinvested locally, benefiting programs across the region. “This is a season many people look forward to for good reason,” stated Kim E. Fraites-Dow, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. She emphasized that the cookie program not only satisfies sweet cravings but also plays a crucial role in developing leadership and entrepreneurial skills among young girls.
History and Tradition in Every Box
The 2026 cookie season carries additional significance as the organization commemorates America’s 250th anniversary. The origins of the Girl Scout Cookie can be traced back to 1933 in Philadelphia, where local Girl Scouts baked and sold cookies at the Philadelphia Gas and Electric Company. This initiative was later adopted across the country in 1936, evolving into the nationwide program recognized today.
In addition to Exploremores, cookie enthusiasts can continue to enjoy long-standing favorites such as Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Adventurefuls, Lemonades, Trefoils, and the gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie. Most cookie varieties are priced at $6 per package, while the gluten-free option is available for $7. Cookie sales will run until March 8, offering multiple purchasing options for consumers.
