Discover the Rude Cosmo: A Unique Cocktail Recipe from Parasol

A popular bar in London has shared an enticing cocktail recipe, inviting enthusiasts to recreate a twist on a classic drink at home. The Rude Cosmo, crafted at Parasol, showcases a unique blend of ingredients and flavors, making it a delightful addition to any gathering.

The Rude Cosmo is built around a syrup made from lingonberry juice, sugar, and lemon verbena, offering a fruity base that complements the drink’s main components. The recipe serves one and involves several key ingredients:

70ml of lingonberry juice or cranberry juice, 70g of caster sugar, and a small handful of lemon verbena leaves or the finely grated zest of a quarter of a lemon for the syrup. For the cocktail, you will need 40ml of good-quality blanco tequila, preferably Patrón; 20ml of rosé vermouth, ideally Lustau Vermut Rosé; 20ml of the prepared syrup; and 20ml of fresh lime juice. Finally, a strip of orange zest, flamed for garnish, adds a vibrant touch.

Preparing the Syrup and Cocktail

To begin, prepare the syrup. Combine the lingonberry juice, sugar, and lemon verbena in a small saucepan. Heat the mixture gently to 70°C and maintain that temperature for 10 minutes, allowing the sugar to dissolve completely. Once done, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool and infuse. Strain the syrup into a clean bottle or jar and seal it. Properly stored in the refrigerator, the syrup can last for approximately two to three weeks. It can also be enjoyed as a refreshing non-alcoholic spritz when mixed with cold soda water.

Next, to build the Rude Cosmo, measure all the liquid ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously, then double strain into a chilled nick and nora glass. Finally, garnish with the flamed orange zest, which enhances the drink’s aromatic profile and presentation.

Andy Kerr, co-owner of Parasol, emphasizes that this cocktail is not only a treat for those who enjoy vibrant flavors but also a testament to the creativity found in contemporary mixology. The combination of ingredients results in a drink that is both refreshing and sophisticated, making it suitable for various occasions.

As bars and restaurants continue to innovate and adapt, sharing recipes like the Rude Cosmo allows cocktail lovers around the world to experience a taste of London from the comfort of their own homes. Whether hosting a small gathering or enjoying a quiet evening, this cocktail promises to impress with its unique flavor profile and elegant presentation.
