Rachel and Danny Duran have successfully established their photography business, Forget Me Not Pictures, in Fort Worth, Texas, marking over 15 years of experience in the industry. The couple combines their unique talents to offer a diverse range of services, including wedding photography, family portraits, and corporate branding. Their journey reflects not only their passion for photography but also the supportive community that has been instrumental in their growth.
From Individual Pursuits to a Thriving Business
The story of Forget Me Not Pictures began with Rachel and Danny’s individual pursuits in photography. Rachel recalls her initial inspiration from a high school photography class at North Crowley, where she fell in love with the art of processing film. She purchased her first professional camera in 2011, capturing moments of her daughter, and quickly transitioned to paid gigs, starting with local bands.
Danny’s entry into photography was serendipitous. While studying at Tarleton State University, he took on a role as the campus photographer, which led to his first assignment covering a group of visiting Tibetan monks. This experience ignited his passion, leading him to work with various clients, including Operation Rock the Troops. As both photographers flourished, they decided to merge their talents and created Forget Me Not Pictures, officially forming their LLC two years ago with help from Braver Together.
Community Engagement and Business Development
Community support has played a vital role in their business expansion. Through Braver Together’s Braver Business Academy, the Durans received guidance on how to structure their business. Rachel highlights the importance of being an active participant in the community, stating, “Networking and creating a great support system is really important in growing your business.”
The couple’s recent investments in marketing, including a revamped website and targeted advertising on social media platforms, have resulted in a noticeable increase in bookings. Since March, they have experienced significant traction, with inquiries for weddings and other events coming in regularly.
Their connection with local institutions like Texas Christian University (TCU) has also proven beneficial. The Durans participated in a program where business students helped them develop their first website and marketing materials. This collaboration has fostered a relationship that continues to benefit their business model.
Looking forward, the Durans aim to launch a nonprofit initiative, Portraits with a Purpose, which will provide free photography services to K-12 students from military families, celebrating their milestones. They are currently working with the Texas A&M Legal Clinic to finalize the necessary paperwork to establish this charitable endeavor.
As the Durans continue to navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship, they emphasize the importance of community, mentorship, and collaboration. Their story serves as an inspiring example of how passion, combined with support from local organizations, can lead to successful business ventures.
