Dr. Daniel M. Kluger, a well-respected Infectious Disease physician, passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 57. His death has left a profound impact on the Peninsula community, where he dedicated over twenty-five years of service, both in private practice and with the Riverside Medical Group.
Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Dr. Kluger pursued his medical training at esteemed institutions including Baylor College of Medicine and New York University. His professional journey also took him to Bellevue Hospital and the University of Wisconsin—Madison, where he honed his skills in treating infectious diseases.
Beyond his medical career, Dr. Kluger was known for his diverse interests. He was a passionate beekeeper for over twenty years, taking pride in tending hives he constructed himself. His hobbies included woodworking, bread making, beer brewing, gardening, and tinkering with electronics, each bringing him joy and fulfillment.
A Life of Family and Faith
Dr. Kluger was deeply committed to his family and his faith. A regular participant at the morning minyan at Rodef Sholom Temple, he embraced his Jewish heritage with devotion. He balanced his demanding career with quality family time, cherishing moments with his wife, Beth, and their two children, Sam and Pearl. Family gatherings, particularly the extended Kluger family Thanksgivings, were events he eagerly anticipated each year.
In addition to his immediate family, Dr. Kluger is survived by his three brothers—Larry, Leo, and Avram—along with their spouses, children, and numerous nieces and nephews. His kindness, humility, and gentle nature touched many lives, and he will be remembered as a patient and informed individual who cared deeply for others.
Dr. Kluger’s commitment to life extended beyond his family and profession; he was an organ donor and actively encouraged others to consider organ donation as a vital act of compassion.
Final Farewell and Legacy
The funeral service for Dr. Kluger will take place on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Rodef Sholom Temple, located at 401 City Center Blvd., Newport News, Virginia. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula, situated at 1817 Kecoughtan Road, Hampton. A meal of consolation will be offered at the family home in Williamsburg after the burial.
In honor of Dr. Kluger’s memory, family and friends are encouraged to make donations to the Rodef Sholom Temple Endowment Fund or the Southern Poverty Law Center. His legacy of compassion and commitment to community service will continue to inspire those who knew him.
