Ernest L. Nacco Jr., a respected father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. His life was marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a passion for laughter and sports.
Born on July 8, 1947, in Schenectady, New York, Ernie was raised by his parents, Ernest and Erma Nacco Sr.. He dedicated four years of his life to the US Air Force, which included a tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, he continued to serve his community through the Air National Guard in Scotia, where he worked as a jet engine mechanic.
A Life Full of Joy and Generosity
Ernie’s interests extended beyond his military career. He was an avid fan of the Blue Angels and enjoyed listening to classic rock music. Golfing was one of his favorite pastimes, where he often found joy and relaxation. Known for his sense of humor, he had a knack for sharing jokes and always extended a helping hand to those in need.
What brought Ernie the greatest happiness was spending time with his family. He cherished moments with his children and grandchildren, often being the first to play on the floor. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Courtney) Nacco, Bethany (Tom) King, and Kathryn (Tim) Newkirk, as well as his grandchildren: Jacob, Emmaline, Caroline, Samuel, and Carter. He also leaves behind his brother Dennis Nacco, sisters Barbara Busch and Linda Cammarano, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services and Memorial Contributions
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on December 10, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, located at 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. A service will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Thomas Flander. Interment will occur privately at a later date at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Ernie’s memory. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home.
