Steven Andrew Kovacs, aged 73, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Surrounded by loved ones in his final moments, Kovacs leaves behind a legacy marked by his successful career in sales and teaching at Dakota Tech.
Kovacs had a profound passion for music that began in his childhood and flourished through his involvement with the White Bear Lake High School choir and liturgical music. He was a talented musician and led several bands throughout his life, including The Four Coachmen, 1st Things 1st, and JS Trio. His love for music was matched by his enthusiasm for woodworking and sports, particularly golf. He cherished spending time with his wife, Deb, at their lake home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Kovacs. Kovacs is survived by his wife, Deb; his sons, Andrew and Patrick (married to Megan); and his grandchildren, Casey and Dylan. He is also remembered by his sisters, Gail Ward, Sue Pearson, and Jody Jarvis; and his brother, John Kovacs.
A special acknowledgment goes to Jody Jarvis, who provided loving assistance to Deb during Steve’s home hospice care until his passing.
