Minneapolis Health Department Issues Urgent Recall of Infant Formula

The City of Minneapolis Health Department has issued an urgent recall of specific lots of infant formula due to concerns over potential botulism contamination. The alert, disseminated through the department’s official social media channels, highlights two lots of ByHeart Inc. Whole Nutrition Infant Formula linked to this severe health risk. Parents and caregivers are advised to check for the affected lots: 206VABP/251261P2 and 206VABP/251131P2, both with a “Use by 01 Dec 2026” date.

Botulism is a rare but potentially fatal illness that can lead to serious complications in infants, including difficulty breathing and muscle paralysis. The Health Department has emphasized the importance of immediate action for those possessing the recalled formula. Caregivers are urged to either return the products to the point of purchase or dispose of them safely. The department’s swift response aims to prevent any additional cases of this life-threatening illness.

Health Department’s Response and Public Safety Measures

The official post from the City of Minneapolis Health Department outlines clear steps for caregivers. The department stresses that while the risk of contamination is relatively low, the potential consequences warrant urgent vigilance. This proactive stance highlights a commitment to public safety and readiness to address health concerns swiftly.

As of now, ByHeart Inc. has not publicly addressed the situation, and investigations are ongoing to determine how the contaminated products reached store shelves. The presence of botulism bacteria in infant formula raises serious public health concerns, and further protective measures are anticipated following this incident.

Parents are encouraged to check the lot numbers diligently and take necessary precautions. With the health of infants at stake, the emphasis on safety cannot be overstated. Ensuring that the recalled formula is not consumed is critical to safeguarding young lives.

The Minneapolis Health Department’s alert serves as a reminder of the importance of monitoring product recalls and the swift actions that can prevent health crises. As investigations continue, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of consumers, particularly the most vulnerable among them: infants.
