In a recent conversation, Hardwell outlined how his approach to performance has evolved, highlighting the significance of recovery and intentional rest.
The demands of touring can be strenuous, both physically and mentally. Hardwell’s journey through the music industry has taught him that prioritizing wellness is essential for success. He reflects on his past mindset, which often involved sacrificing personal health for the sake of his career. “Experience taught me to treat wellness like part of the gig,” he noted. “Health and fitness play a big role in my life now.”

He has come to view sleep as the foundation of mental sharpness. “In my career, sleep is everything,” he stated. “I now plan buffer days between shows to catch up on rest or work on music without rushing.” This shift has led him to skip most afterparties, understanding that without adequate rest, the quality of his music suffers.
Hardwell’s connection to his purpose remains a vital aspect of his career. “What keeps me grounded is staying connected to why I do this,” he explained.
