Free Legal Fair in Santa Fe Offers Support for Low-Income Residents

The Volunteer Attorney Program of New Mexico Legal Aid is hosting a free legal fair on March 9, 2024, in Santa Fe. The event will take place at the Hotel Glorieta, located at 750 N. St. Francis Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This initiative aims to provide essential legal assistance to individuals and families at or below 200% of the federal poverty level who meet specific asset limits.

Attendees will have the opportunity to receive free legal help across various areas, including family law, landlord/tenant issues, and employment law. The fair will feature lawyers offering guidance on matters such as divorce, child custody, child support, contracts, wills, and unemployment benefits. The support will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring that as many individuals as possible can access necessary services.

Legal assistance will be provided in both English and Spanish, reflecting the diverse community of Santa Fe. For those requiring additional support, such as sign language interpretation, arrangements can be made in advance by contacting 1-877-266-9861 or emailing [email protected].

The fair represents a significant effort by New Mexico Legal Aid to bridge the gap for low-income residents who may otherwise struggle to navigate the complexities of legal issues. In a time when access to legal resources can be critical, events like this offer a vital lifeline for many community members.

For further information about the legal fair or the services available, individuals are encouraged to reach out directly to New Mexico Legal Aid. This initiative underscores the commitment to ensuring that legal support is accessible to those who need it most.
