Judith “Judy” Hope, aged 64, passed away on January 24, 2026, at UConn Health in Farmington, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Berlin, Judy’s contributions to her community and the warmth she shared with friends and family will be profoundly missed.
Born in New Britain, Judy was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Hope, who died in 2021. A graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1981, she later pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1995. Known for her proper demeanor and independence, Judy embodied a spirit of kindness that touched many lives.
As a devoted member of St. Paul Church in Kensington, Judy was actively involved in church activities and volunteered her time to support various community initiatives. Her commitment to service is remembered fondly by those who shared in her efforts.
Judy leaves behind her beloved dog, Juan, and cat, Blue. Acknowledgment is due to her friends Barbara Rudnick, Lou Zucchi, and Dave Cyr, who provided steadfast support throughout her final months. Their presence and care during this challenging time exemplified the close-knit nature of her community.
Memorial Services Scheduled
Calling hours are set for February 1 from 16:00 to 18:00 at Carlson Funeral Home, located at 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on February 2 at 10:00 at St. Paul Church, located at 485 Alling Street, Kensington. Attendees are encouraged to go directly to the church for the service. Following the Mass, Judy will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in New Britain.
