Jesse Michael Boelman, a 34-year-old resident of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on November 4, 2025, after a long battle with mental health and addiction challenges. His family and friends remember him for his vibrant personality, artistic talents, and deep compassion for others.
Born on June 5, 1991, to Patty and Tony Boelman in Rochester, Minnesota, Jesse spent his formative years in Walker before relocating to Austin. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and love for superheroes and comic books. Jesse’s creativity shone through in the handmade gifts he crafted for those close to him. His ability to engage in meaningful conversations and recall movie quotes made him a cherished companion.
Jesse found a sense of purpose while working at Berg’s Nursery, a role that transcended mere employment. It became a space where he forged lasting friendships, shared laughter, and took pride in creating beautiful landscapes. The support and kindness extended to him by the Berg family and team left a significant impact on his life, a sentiment echoed by his family in their expression of gratitude.
His struggles with mental health and alcohol use were not indicative of weakness, but rather a testament to his resilience in seeking peace. Jesse’s family has chosen to speak openly about his journey, hoping to inspire others to engage in conversations about mental health and encourage those in need to seek help.
Jesse is survived by his mother, Patty Kiley Boelman of Austin; father, Tony (Angie) Boelman of Willow River; sister, Lacey (Brandon) Rector of Austin; brothers, Kyle Boelman of Austin and Jared (Brittany) Lahti of Bemidji, Minnesota; and sister, Megan (Brent) Clark of Becker, Minnesota. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews—Naryk, Norah, Hayden, Hudson, and Hailee—who will honor his memory with love.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donna DuFour and Aeiko Boelman; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Patricia Kiley; paternal uncle, Ralph Boelman; and maternal aunt, Maggie Kiley Anderson.
The family expressed deep appreciation for the first responders, law enforcement, and medical personnel who provided care for Jesse and support to the family during this challenging time. They acknowledged the emotional toll of such work and thanked them for their compassion and professionalism.
