ArchWell Health has designated July 15, 2025, as the inaugural “Pink Letter Project Day,” marking the launch of a nationwide initiative aimed at increasing breast cancer screenings among women aged 60 and older. This program specifically targets the over 60 million women in the United States within this age group, encouraging them to prioritize their breast health by scheduling annual mammograms well ahead of National Breast Cancer Month in October.
Breast cancer remains a significant health concern, particularly as risks increase with age. According to recent statistics, approximately 25% of women aged 50 to 74 in the U.S. are not current with their mammogram screenings, meaning they have not received a screening in the past two years. This statistic translates to around 15 million women who may not be receiving timely breast cancer screenings, a situation exacerbated by barriers such as lack of health insurance, inadequate access to healthcare providers, and social factors like job loss and transportation issues.
Dr. Judith Ford, Chief Medical Officer of ArchWell Health, emphasized the importance of early detection, stating, “Mammograms are essential and, to be honest, the most easily available protocol for detecting breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages.” She encouraged women to schedule their mammograms during the summer months to avoid the year-end rush that often results in delayed screenings.
Through the “Pink Letter Project,” ArchWell Health will send personalized letters to members who are due or overdue for their mammogram screenings. These letters, marked with a distinctive pink design symbolizing breast cancer awareness, will include information on the importance of breast cancer screening, as well as practical details on how and where to schedule a mammogram. Additionally, each letter will feature a personalized “order form” for members to present at their screening centers.
To further engage the community, ArchWell Health centers across the country will provide custom “Pink Letter Project” postcards. These postcards will allow members to write encouraging notes to loved ones, reminding them to schedule their mammograms before Breast Cancer Awareness Month. ArchWell Health is also organizing a series of social and educational events from July 15 through October 31 as part of this initiative.
ArchWell Health is committed to addressing the critical challenges associated with scheduling and accessing breast cancer screenings. By promoting timely screenings, the organization aims to enhance early detection rates and ultimately reduce breast cancer mortality among older adults.
ArchWell Health operates a network of primary care centers dedicated to improving the quality of life for seniors through a comprehensive model of care. Their facilities, located in various states including Alabama, Arizona, and Florida, offer longer appointment times, in-house lab testing, and a range of social activities designed to foster community among members aged 60 and older.
