YouTube Launches ‘Recap’ Feature for Personalized Year-End Reviews

YouTube has introduced a new feature called “Recap,” designed to provide users with a personalized year-in-review experience. This rollout began in North America and is expected to extend to additional regions later this week. Much like Spotify Wrapped, YouTube Recap aims to summarize individual viewing habits and interests over the past year.

Features of YouTube Recap

Users can access their Recap on the YouTube homepage or through the “You” tab on both mobile devices and desktop computers. The feature offers a comprehensive overview of a user’s year on the platform, including a detailed analysis of viewing habits based on watch history. The Recap consists of twelve unique cards that showcase top channels, interests, and even the evolution of a user’s viewing preferences.

One standout aspect of YouTube Recap is its ability to categorize users based on their viewing habits. For instance, it can identify personality types ranging from the “Adventurer” to the “Creative Spirit,” providing insights into how users engage with content. For music enthusiasts, the feature will highlight top artists and songs from 2025, as well as offer a deeper exploration of genres and podcasts, including a snapshot of international music listening through the YouTube Music app.

Testing and Availability

YouTube has been actively testing the Recap feature, evaluating fifty different concepts and conducting nine rounds of user feedback. This extensive testing phase underscores the company’s commitment to delivering a tailored experience.

For users who are still awaiting access to this feature, YouTube assures that it will be available to everyone soon. Additionally, users will have the option to save and share their Recap with friends and family, further enhancing the social aspect of this personalized experience.

As the platform continues to evolve, the introduction of YouTube Recap demonstrates its efforts to engage users and provide a more personalized viewing experience, reflecting the diverse interests and preferences of its global audience.
