Donald Trump has publicly denied ever visiting Epstein Island, responding to a comment made by comedian Trevor Noah during the 2023 Grammy Awards. In a statement posted on Truth Social on February 2, Trump criticized the awards show, which he described as “the WORST, virtually unwatchable!”
The former president’s remarks came after Noah referenced Trump and former President Bill Clinton in relation to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender whose private island has been the subject of numerous allegations. Trump stated, “Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close.”
In the same post, Trump expressed frustration over what he called a “false and defamatory statement” and threatened legal action against Noah, saying, “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C.” He added, “Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
Trump’s denial comes in the wake of the Justice Department’s recent release of approximately 3.5 million files related to Jeffrey Epstein, in which Trump was mentioned over 3,000 times. On February 3, he vowed to take legal action against author Michael Wolff, claiming Wolff conspired with Epstein to damage him politically. “Wolff, who’s a third-rate writer, was conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to hurt me politically or otherwise,” Trump told reporters, as reported by The Independent. “So we’ll probably sue Wolff on that… maybe the Epstein estate, I guess.”
Despite the resurfacing of these allegations, Trump has not faced any criminal charges related to his past association with Epstein and continues to deny any wrongdoing.
The Grammy Awards, held on February 5, 2023, were marked by a variety of performances and tributes, although Trump’s comments regarding Noah and the show have drawn significant media attention. As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen what legal actions Trump will pursue and how they may impact his public image.
