Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave recently revealed her identity as Calla Lily on the popular television series The Masked Singer. The episode aired on February 4, 2026, and it was a significant moment for the reality TV star, who has been navigating a challenging health journey. In a candid interview with entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno, Mellencamp discussed her experiences on the show, her struggles with health issues, and her evolving friendships.
Mellencamp shared that while keeping her identity secret proved to be manageable, her children quickly recognized her voice. “I knew the second that my kids heard my voice singing, that they would know it was me,” she said, recalling how her son pointed out her singing during the performance of “Fight Song.” The reveal became a family affair, with her children and father, John Mellencamp, present to witness the moment.
Health Challenges and Personal Growth
Beyond her time on the stage, Mellencamp opened up about her battles with health issues, including skin cancer treatments and brain surgeries. She acknowledged feeling overwhelmed and realized she was dealing with PTSD, rather than mere exhaustion. “It had gotten to the point where I didn’t want to get up at all,” she explained. Although she never experienced suicidal thoughts, the loneliness became unbearable, prompting her to seek help. “I used to take pride in the fact that I didn’t need anybody,” she admitted. “I really can’t now and it’s okay to not be okay.”
Mellencamp credits her longtime friend Kyle Richards for being a pillar of support throughout her health struggles. Richards encouraged her to have a “skin tag” checked, leading to early melanoma treatment. Mellencamp recalled a particularly dire moment when she suddenly lost vision in one eye, and Richards rushed to the emergency room to be by her side. “At a time that I was unable to be my own advocate, Kyle was my advocate,” she noted.
Reflections on the Past
Reflecting on her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Mellencamp expressed a desire to embrace authenticity. “I wanted to be perceived as perfect,” she stated. “Going back now, I wish I could have just been myself. The good, the bad and the ugly.”
She also shared a humorous anecdote from her childhood involving her father, who grounded her in front of celebrities Madonna and Sean Penn after she arrived three hours late for dinner. “I don’t think I’ve been late since,” Mellencamp joked, highlighting how such experiences shaped her perspective.
Mellencamp’s journey through the highs and lows of her health and personal life has become a source of inspiration for her fans. Her appearance on The Masked Singer not only marked a career milestone but also provided her with a renewed sense of purpose amidst her challenges. As she continues to advocate for mental health and wellness, her story resonates with many who face similar struggles.
