Prime Video has announced that the action sci-fi film The Creator, directed by Gareth Edwards, will begin streaming on December 20, 2025. The film, which stars John David Washington, originally premiered in theaters on September 29, 2023. It explores the intricate challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential threats to humanity.
After its theatrical release, The Creator garnered largely positive feedback from critics. It was produced with a budget of $80 million and has achieved a global box office gross of $104.3 million. Plot and Production Details
Set in a dystopian future in 2070, the narrative unfolds 15 years after AI triggered a nuclear explosion in Los Angeles, leading to a catastrophic war between humans and machines. The plot centers around Joshua, a former special forces agent mourning the loss of his wife, Maya. He is recruited by the U.S. Army to hunt down The Creator, a mysterious figure who has developed a formidable weapon that could potentially end both the ongoing conflict and humanity itself.
Filming for The Creator took place across several countries, including Thailand, Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan, and Indonesia. Some scenes were also shot at Pinewood Studios in England, adding a diverse backdrop to the film’s visual storytelling.
